employment law?
My partner has just been ‘laid off’ as they put it due to not enough work at the moment. If he has a contract is this allowed or will it be able to go to a tribunal regarding this matter

They can legally lay him off. Since it is technically different from being fired they could. When people are laid off they usually are called back to work in a couple of months–so just enjoy the unemployment until he gets called back.
